Ear Wax Services

Treating hearing loss can sometimes be as simple as cleaning impacted earwax. Earwax, or cerumen, naturally protects the ear canal by trapping debris, bacteria, and water. However, when earwax accumulates and hardens, it can block the ear canal and press against the eardrum, causing temporary hearing loss. In some cases, using cotton swabs may worsen the situation by pushing the wax deeper into the canal. A professional ear cleaning can help restore normal hearing by safely removing the impacted wax.

At the Hearing Rehabilitation Center, earwax can be safely removed using two methods. First, doctors may manually remove earwax using a curette, a special tool designed to gently scrape away excess buildup. For more significant wax blockages, the EARIGATOR™ is used, which employs pressurized, temperature-controlled water to effectively clear the ear canal.

This technology ensures a safe and comfortable experience for patients. To schedule an appointment for earwax removal, contact the Hearing Rehabilitation Center.
